“It was Silver's voice, and before I had heard a dozen words, I would not have shown myself for all the world. I lay there, trembling and listening, in the extreme of fear and curiosity, for, in those dozen words, I understood that the lives of all the honest men aboard depended on me alone.” (Stevenson 58) TestimonialThis book truly deserves to be a classic. I chose it merely because I recognized the title and was recommended to read it. It was very easy to become enthralled in the plot and settings due to the author imagery and vivid language. There were no slow sections and around around every corner danger awaited. The book was written in a different style then modern books in that it was an older style of English. At first I struggled to catch everything because of this but after a while I became accustomed to it and even began to enjoy what it added to the book. The book is great if you want to read something with higher literary merit without sacrificing a plot of adventure and exploration. The book is about a search for treasure that goes deadly wrong in the blink of an eye and is exciting every step of the way. I greatly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to most people who asked. Especially those who want a little bit of action.
